Are you thinking of worshiping with us? Not sure what to expect?
We invite you to come just as you are – single, with a partner, with or without children, in jeans or in your “Sunday Best.” All are welcome to join us.
Where do I park and where do I enter the church?
When you arrive, you can park in the upper lot accessed off Route 43 or in the lower lot off Orient Avenue. Stairs from the lower lot lead up to the main entrance. The entrance to the Sanctuary where we worship is through the door to your right as you face the round church. The door to the left takes you to the church office, past the restroom, onto our Social Hall, or downstairs to classrooms. Once inside the Sanctuary door, folks will greet you and direct you to the Sanctuary. Feel free to sit in either the pews or in the straight-back chairs lining the walls.
What is your worship service like?
Our service begins at 10:00 am and includes hymns and choral music, prayers and scripture readings, and the pastor’s message. Our service is live-streamed via Zoom and on our Church of the Covenant United Methodist Facebook page. The service can be viewed on Facebook afterward as well.
Do children stay for the whole service?
Children are always welcome in worship. Childcare is available upon request.
How does Communion work?
Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. All are welcome to participate – there are no requirements. We share bread and grape juice (not wine) as we seek God together. We also provide a gluten-free option. In normal times the Pastor will indicate whether Communion will be at the rail of the altar where you may kneel or stand as you are able, in the pews, or by intinction (where we receive a piece of bread and dip it in a chalice of juice). Ushers direct the congregation to receive Communion.
What happens at the end of the service?
We request that you remain seated during the musical postlude. On the first Sunday of the month, at the conclusion of our worship service around 11:00, you are invited to the Social Hall for refreshments, coffee, and a time for fellowship. Folks gradually take their leave, heading back into the world to serve God. You can see some of the many tangible ways that we minister on our Calendar.
